St Pancras Brasserie and Champagne Bar by Searcys to open Champagne school
St Pancras Brasserie and Champagne Bar by Searcys is to open its first Champagne school, following a refurbishment.
The venue, famously home to the longest Champagne bar in Europe, will open its school in April, as it toasts the 150 year anniversary of St Pancras Station.
Guests to the school will have the opportunity to learn about Champagne and English sparkling wines, either at ticketed events, as part of a private party accompanied by a meal, or as celebration in the new Tasting Room or Kitchen Bar.
The unveiling of the school is part of a larger redesign by Softroom, which has introduced flexible spaces for meetings and meals as well as the new private dining space and bar.
Searcys' development chef Shaun Rowlands and St Pancras' executive chef Colin Layfield have also created a new all-day menu, focusing on the UK's finest seasonal produce.
Breakfast offerings will include Rainy Lane yogurt, spiced Williams pear, pomegranate and granola; as well as John Ross Jr smoked salmon with avocado and lemon. Main courses offered at lunch and dinner will include Creedy Carver chicken pie and 45-day house-aged Lake District Rib of beef on the bone.
A new cocktail list will feature 10 contemporary twists on 1920s cocktails, named after the trains which used to depart from St Pancras and King's Cross including the "West Riding Rum" and the "The Heady Highlandman".
Matt Thomas, Searcys' managing director, said: "I am really proud of our team at St Pancras Brasserie and Champagne Bar who have delivered a fresh and contemporary British menu that sits perfectly within the new design of the restaurant. The launch of the Champagne School will allow us to share our wealth of knowledge on Champagne and British sparkling wines in more depth, internally as a company, as well as to the consumer. This is the first of many changes that we hope will mark a new era for Searcys."
The Champagne school's masterclass will cost £45 and be led by Searcys' Drinks Ambassador, Joel Claustre.
An exclusive masterclass, with food pairing, will be available for groups of six or more at £65 per person.
Champagne pre-dinner experiences are available for groups of eight or more for £25, while the opportunity to enjoy a five-course menu with matching sparkling wines and champagnes is available for £120 a person.
