Sodexo secures five-year contract extension at Queen's Hospital Romford
Sodexo has extended its catering, retail and soft services contract at Queen's Hospital, Romford, by five years for £140m.
The foodservice provider will now introduce a portering system to improve patient flow in the emergency department, as well as cleaning technology supported by Protecta.
Sodexo will also continue to work towards net zero through its collaboration with a new waste partner that uses a local processing service.
The contract caterer has partnered with Queen's Hospital since 2006 under the PFI contract with ProjectCo and Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
During the pandemic, it was responsible for upgrading the VIE oxygen system and installing a new ITU ward at the site.
Philip Leigh, chief executive of Sodexo Healthcare, UK & Ireland, said: "We are delighted to extend our contract at Queen's Hospital, Romford. We will continue to work closely with the Trust to improve patient flow and support its objective to support early discharge from hospital.
"Patient experience is at the heart of what we do and we look forward to working with the Trust in the delivery of a number of significant projects planned over the coming years."
