Seighford Hall to be transformed into £15m luxury hotel

Hospitality newcomer First Blue Leisure has revealed plans to spend £15m transforming Seighford Hall in Staffordshire into a luxury hotel and spa.

The group acquired the Grade II-listed building in July 2020. It had lain derelict for nearly 20 years after it was last in use as a nursing home. The property was auctioned off a guide price of £275,000.

Development plans include a bar and restaurant serving local and homegrown produce, log cabins and a walled garden at the 21-acre site. The 64-bedroom hotel is hoped to open in late 2022.

Christopher Garrett has been appointed managing director of Seighford Hall, joining from the Hilton Liverpool City Centre, where he was commercial director.

He said: "Seighford Hall is a remarkable property and is perfectly situated in the Staffordshire countryside. I want to create an unforgettable experience for guests from the moment they enter the grounds to the minute they leave. I want guests to truly remember every aspect of their stay."

First Blue Group, which operates across the construction, healthcare and electrical industries, is the parent company of First Blue Leisure. Seighford Hall is the group's first hospitality investment, with plans to expand its portfolio over the coming years.
