Second Mallow to open in Canary Wharf
Plant-based restaurant concept Mallow is set to open a second London location in Canary Wharf in June.
Mallow, a spin-off concept by the team behind Mildreds, first opened in Borough Market in November 2021.
The restaurant will be situated in Wood Wharf and have 150 covers, with 100 inside across two floors and 50 on an outdoor terrace. Mallow will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offer plant-based dishes with a strong focus on sustainability, seasonality and provenance. The restaurant will also have a bar area.
Head of food development for Mallow and Mildreds, Sarah Wasserman, will continue to lead on the menu creation, combining dishes from Borough Market alongside new additions exclusive to Wood Wharf. Fresh and seasonal vegetables will continue to be the inspiration for the menu, with new dishes including spinach dahi puri served with lime, coconut sambol and blackcurrant tamarind chutney, and aubergine muhamammara borek with green tabouleh, smoked aubergine cream and ezme.
Sam Anstey, managing director, said: "Wood Wharf is a thriving, social and sustainable community where people live and work. It felt like the perfect location to open a second Mallow restaurant, and we're proud to be opening among some of London's most iconic restaurants, bringing a vibrancy to the local area. We hope Mallow will offer a welcoming space for local residents, office workers and visitors to enjoy plant-based dining, whether meeting for breakfast, lunch, brunch or dinner."
Stuart Fyfe, managing director of retail leasing at the Canary Wharf Group, added: "Mallow is an incredible addition to our Wood Wharf community. The addition of an entirely plant-based restaurant will be popular with residents, visitors and workers. The choices for customers in Canary Wharf is becoming increasingly more difficult as the offers get better and better and the choice even wider."
Mildreds was opened in Soho in 1988 by Jane Muir and Diane Thomas as a vegetarian restaurant. Over the last 10 years the now vegan brand has expanded to five sites across London.
