Rick Stein group to open first coffee shop in Padstow
The first Rick Stein Coffee Shop is set to open next month in Padstow, spearheaded by group director of drinks Charlie Stein and in partnership with Cornish roastery Origin Coffee.
Opening on 7 April, the launch will see ethically sourced coffee from the Certified B Corporation roastery served at the former Rick Stein Patisserie. The building has undergone a complete redesign by the family-owned restaurant group's directors of design, Jill and Ed Stein.
The Rick Stein Coffee Shop will offer a simple menu of premium single-origin coffee. Three single-roast coffees will be used for each of the core milk-based, black and filter coffees. The house filter coffee will change regularly, working with the best in season, and white-based espresso drinks will be made using 1942 family-farmed Das Almas from the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Milk will come from local St Ives dairy, Trink.
Focuss=ing on coffee-to-go, with a few tables for sit-in dining, the food menu will include locally baked sweet and savoury pastries like cinnamon buns from Truro's Da Bara Bakery, Reuben bagels and sandwiches filled with local crab, Cornish gouda, and pork and warm apple chutney. There will also be ice-cream from the Happy Endings.

We've worked together for over 15 years already, and I've always been impressed with their unrivalled knowledge of and enthusiasm for great quality coffee. I'm extremely proud to be opening our first speciality coffee shop in Padstow and to be working with such excellent Cornish businesses."
Origin founder Tom Sobey said: "I've worked with Steins for many years and this new collaboration with Charlie has been incredibly exciting to work on. It brings together the very best in speciality coffee; an exceptional coffee menu, world-class machinery, talented baristas and delicious food all within a stunning coffee shop interior. It's testament to Stein's progressive vision."
