Purezza vegan pizza triples size of Camden restaurant

Purezza the plant-based Italian pizzeria has opened a new Camden restaurant that is triple the size of its old north London outpost next-door.

The new site at 45-47 Parkway is built with recycled and eco-friendly materials and has an extended bar and sheltered garden. It is believed to be one of the largest vegan restaurants in the country.

Purezza co-founder and co-owner, Tim Barclay, said: "Our flagship London restaurant had been struggling to keep up with demand throughout 2019. The single biggest complaint we receive is that it's almost impossible to get a table most nights.

"It's a good problem to have but providing exceptional customer experiences is one of our core tenets at Purezza, and by tripling the size of our Camden restaurant we'll be able to meet the demand."

The new Camden site uses furniture repurposed from its previous restaurant and discarded items from other venues. The plaster on the wall is made with hemp and the lighting uses reclaimed materials. Upholstered furniture uses vegan leathers and foam made from recycled plastic bottles. It also uses seating and doors sourced from an old chapel.

The old Camden branch at 43 Parkway closed on 27 January and the new branch officially opened on Monday.

Purezza was founded in 2015 with the first branch in Brighton & Hove. It makes pizzas using plant-based alternative ingredients. It has created its own range of vegan cheese for use on its pizzas and is developing a plant-based cheese factory. It won the National Pizza of the Year award 2018.
