Pubs could be eligible for up to £2m of government funding

Community pubs with historical or local significance could be eligible for up to £2m of government funding if they apply by 11 October.

The Community Ownership Fund, which is managed by the department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, has announced it is open for its third round of bids.

It comes after a pub frequented by the poet Dylan Thomas received £300,000 from the fund "to keep it open and make it accessible".

Two other projects in Wales were among the recipients of the £770,057 government grant announced today (25 September).

The Community Ownership Fund has now donated £49.3m for 195 projects across the UK, £8m of which have gone to thirty-three pubs, including the George pub in Kent, which received £250,000 from the fund in May 2023.

More information on grant applications can be found here.
