Pizza Hut's ‘DealBot' criticised for not always finding best discount
Pizza Hut Delivery's ‘DealBot' has been criticised by consumer review site Which? for not always providing the best offer or discount.
DealBot is an optional tool that customers can use to add Pizza Hut's universal offers to their basket, including discounts on pizzas and sides and buy-one-get-one-free promotions, rather than searching for such deals manually.
However, Which? said the tool could be misleading and lead to customers missing out on savings. It said the function was "missing major deals it should find, based on its claim to find the best of the best".
When testing the DealBot, Which? added that while it was sometimes capable of finding the best deals, there were "often better discounts on the Deals page" and in worst case scenarios, it led to missed savings of more than £10 on orders.
A spokesperson from Pizza Hut Delivery said: "DealBot's intention is to provide good deals quickly to customers that don't want to spend time hunting around the website. Once activated, the optional tool automatically applies discounts based off basket value thresholds and buy one get one free offers.
"We are looking into ways of developing the technology on our website to meet the needs of our consumers and ensure they really do get the best deals, which includes improving the functionality of this particular system."
