Paulo de Tarso to promote hospitality at TEDx event
Restaurateur Paulo de Tarso is to provide his vision for hospitality and how he has achieved his goals in the industry at TEDxSoho.
The event, taking place at the Cambridge Theatre in London on 30 May, will feature 16 speakers from all walks of life to share their stories.
De Tarso, who was senior maitre d' at the Wolseley, Scotts and Bar Boulud at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, before founding Margot restaurant in Covent Garden, plans to explain what has inspired him in hospitality and how bringing happiness to others can provide a sense of fulfilment as well as a good income.
He said: "I want to talk about the journey that led me to hospitality and allowed me to do the amazing things I've done, starting in New York as a dishwasher before coming to London. I'll really emphasise what inspires me about the industry and give people a better understanding of hospitality."
De Tarso said that he was keen to bust myths around pay and conditions, and explain that it is possible to "make a great living working in this beautiful industry".
He added: "We're all here for service, whether you're a writer, doctor or banker. In any industry you can inspire people.
"We need to spread the word that the hospitality industry is for everyone and that there are some great leaders who are setting the right standards."
