MOD Pizza closes its UK restaurants
The UK arm of American chain MOD Pizza has shut down with the closure of all its restaurants.
Documents on Companies House show liquidators at Campbell Crossley & Davis were appointed to the chain on 23 September.
MOD Pizza made its international debut in Leeds in 2016 with the backing of Carphone Warehouse founder Sir Charles Dunstone, who also backs Five Guys in the UK.
It was trading from nine UK sites when they all closed for lockdown on 20 March, but none have reopened.
The restaurant group reported a pre-tax loss of £6.9m for the year to December 2018, down from an £11.1m loss in 2017. At the time the company said this was a reflection of the costs associated with two trial restaurant sites, and outlined plans for a further seven UK locations.
MOD Pizza was launched by Seattle Coffee Company founder Scott Svenson in 2008.
The US business continues to trade from around 400 restaurants.
