Casa do Frango and Kol owner surpasses £1m crowdfunding goal
Restaurant group MJMK, which owns Lisboeta, Casa do Frango, and Michelin-starred Kol, has exceeded its £1m crowdfunding target within the week of its launch.
The group is raising funds to open its second venue with Kol chef Santiago Lastra and its fourth Casa do Frango site in London's Victoria.
At the time of writing, the Crowdcube campaign has raised £1,173,610 from 186 supporters and is due to close in 14 day's time.
MJMK had raised £732,000 prior to launching the campaign and indicated that up to £600,000 of this may be spent while the pitch is still live.
Total gross profit across MJMK's five restaurants was £12.3m in FY22, while overall company earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation was £1.2m in FY22.
Investment opportunities start from £100 and supporters can access rewards with tiered ‘investor perks' ranging from pastéis de nata and Boa Pinga vinho verde wine at Casa do Frango, to complimentary meals at Kol and Lisboeta, and bespoke hampers delivered to investors' doors.
Higher level investors receive access to chef tastings and a dedicated reservations line, among other benefits.
Founded by Marco Mendes and Jake Kasumov, London-based MJMK launched Kol with Lastra in 2020, Lisboeta with Nuno Mendes in 2022 and has expanded Portuguese piri-piri chicken restaurant Casa do Frango to three sites across the capital.
