Mitch Tonks unveils details of new Dartmouth restaurant
Chef-restaurateur and seafood aficionado Mitch Tonks has unveiled details of his forthcoming Dartmouth restaurant, Rockfish Seafood & Chips.
The new restaurant, which will open on 14 June, is the third venture in the South-west by the former FishWorks chief executive and his business partner, Mat Prowse. It follows the Seahorse in Dartmouth and the Rockfish Grill and Seafood Market in Bristol.
The 75-cover Rockfish Seafood & Chips will be an informal eaterie offering views over the river Dart. The restaurant will be managed by Jamie Atkinson, who previously worked at the Mandarin Oriental in Miami, Florida. A head chef is yet to be appointed.
The menu will showcase locally caught seafood, with a strong focus on sustainability. Dishes will include battered, breaded and grilled fish including species such as pollack, gurnard, haddock and sole as well as scallops and crustaceans such as langoustines, lobster and cracked crab.
Tonks told Caterersearch the restaurant would be family-orientated and "a lot of fun". "The interior resembles a beach hut which extends the feel of the seaside right into the restaurant," he said.
"This is our third venture and we are still looking to expand further although for the moment we're concentrating on the existing restaurants."
