Chefs back Meatball Month to support young people with muscular dystrophy

A host of top chefs have given their support to Meatball Month, a fundraising campaign to send young people with muscle wasting disease muscular dystrophy on incredible experiences.

Among those to have given their support to the campaign, devised by the Muscle Help Foundation, are Tom Kerridge, Angela Hartnett, Ken Hom and Ben Tish.

Running through November the campaign asks people to host a meatball meal or party, asking their guests for donations to the charity. Chefs have given their recipes for people to prepare, which can be downloaded alongside other items to help parties go with a swing at www.meatballmonth.com

A number of butchers and restaurants are also supporting the campaign by selling meatball packs or dishes and donating a percentage of the profits to the charity.

Young people with muscular dystrophy have an average life expectancy of 22. Each experience costs £1,600 to fulfil, with partners including the Experience Centre at Silverstone, which will host its 10th annual Muscle Dream Driving programme next year.
