McDonald's removes chicken legend from delivery menus due to supply chain disruption

McDonald's has been hit by supply chain disruption once again, forcing it to temporarily remove its chicken legend from delivery menus across the UK and Ireland.

A McDonald's spokesperson said: "Like most retailers, we are currently experiencing some supply chain issues. This is impacting the availability of the chicken legend, so we have made the decision to remove this product from our delivery menu across the UK and Ireland in the short term. The product is still available to purchase in restaurants.

"We apologise for any inconvenience, and thank our customers for their continued patience. We are working hard to return the item to our delivery menu as soon as possible."

In August, bottled drinks and milkshakes had to be taken off the menu across McDonald's restaurants in England, Scotland and Wales, though this has since been resolved, and groups like Nando's, Greggs and KFC have also reported supply problems.

Purchasing firms told The Caterer processed chicken and potato products were a particular issue and restaurants were warned to have alternatives in place should turkey supplies also be affected this Christmas.

The government has made 5,500 visas available for poultry workers to come to the UK until the end of the year to address issues, however it is unclear how many of these have been taken up.
