Mayfair Pizza Co to offer London marathon runners a free meal
Pizza restaurant the Mayfair Pizza Co is set to offer London marathon runners a complimentary meal in the week before the race.
Anyone with a definite place in the London marathon, which takes place on 13 April, will be entitled to a free pizza to help them load up on carbs before the 26.4 mile run.
The restaurant's director, James Robson, is a serious marathon runner, having completed 25 marathons around the world since 2012, including London and Tokyo. He has also taken part in ultra-marathons such as the 75k (46.6m) Sainte Lyon night-time race through the Rhone Alps, and the six-marathon-long Marathon des Sables in the Sahara Desert.
The Mayfair Pizza Co, on London's Lancashire Court, is overseen by head chef Michael Lecouteur, and launched a new menu in February.
Its more unusual pizza toppings include the Gourmet Pizza with smoked brisket, semi-dried tomatoes and balsamic onions, and the Crab ‘n' Mac, which features crab macaroni cheese and a parmesan wafer.
