MasterChef:The Professionals contender Stu Deeley to open site in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter
One of the final three contestants in MasterChef: The Professionals is to open a restaurant in the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham early next year.
Stu Deeley (pictured right) had previously revealed that he will be leaving his current job as head chef of the city's Wildnerness restaurant on 20 December and has now confirmed that he is to launch his own venture.
He told Birmigham Live: "I chose the Jewellery Quarter as the location for my restaurant because it's affordable. Being a new business, it's quite risky to open in the centre.
"I have a backer in place and we have found a site we like and are in talks."
The 28-year-old chef who trained at Halesowen College cites his biggest influences as Andreas Antona and Luke Tipping of Michelin-starred Simpsons Restaurant in Birmingham.
In tonight's final of the BBC 2 TV programme, Deeley will be up against Olivia Burt, 24, a sous chef at Claridge's hotel in London and Exose Grant Lopo-Ndinga, chef de partie – pastry, at James Martin Manchester.
