Malmaison and Hotel du Vin to take over management of The Belfry
The management of the legendary golfing hotel The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield is to be taken over by Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, having been operated by De Vere Hotels for the past two years.
Located within a 550 acre estate with three golf courses, the 319-bedroom hotel and sister properties Malmaison and Hotel du Vin all share the same owner - US based resorts business KSL.
The Belfry, which has recently undergone a £26m refurbishment, will not be rebranded as a Malmasion or Hotel Du Vin hotel, but will tap into the group's sales and marketing expertise.
Lynn Hood, managing director of The Belfry, said that the change in the management contract, which officially takes place on 27 July, will have "minimal impact" on the day-to-day operations of the hotel and will have no effect on the guest experience.
"We are looking forward to taking full advantage of the skills, expertise and commercial benefits of working with Malmaison and Hotel du Vin to support The Belfry at this exciting time," she explained.
Malmaison currently has 13 hotels in the UK, while Hotel du Vin has 15.
The ending of the management contract with De Vere Hotels is the latest episode in the unravelling of the De Vere Group, which is currently in talks to sell its six golf hotels for around £160m.
Meanwhile, sister brand De Vere Village Urban Resorts, which has 25 hotels and three under development, is also set to be sold, with a rumoured price tag of £450m.
