Lights go out at new London restaurant

London's first pitch-black restaurant is to open in July.

Diners at Dans le Noir? will eat their meals in total darkness so they can appreciate the food and what it feels like to be blind.

The concept was started last year in Paris by Edouard de Broglie.

The London outlet will open on the site of the former Maison Novelli in Clerkenwell, and is expected to attract about 50,000 visitors a year.

Dans le Noir? will serve French food with a Mediterranean twist and will provide employment for 10 visually-impaired people.
