Kevin Hughes appointed general manager at Hartwell House & Spa
Kevin Hughes has been promoted to general manager at Hartwell House & Spa in Buckinghamshire following the death of Matthew Johnson in August.
Johnson was director of hotel operations for Historic House Hotels. He died after collapsing on a golf course aged 49.
Hughes has worked at Hartwell House for almost five years, most recently as food and beverage manager, having started at Hartwell House in 2017 as restaurant manager. He started his career at the Lough Eske Castle hotel in Donegal and was also previously assistant restaurant manager at Rosewood London hotel.
The 48-bedroom, four-red-AA-starred Hartwell House has a two-AA-rosette restaurant and is a member of both Relais & Chateaux and Pride of Britain Hotels.
In 2008, Historic House Hotels and all its interests became the property of the National Trust, by donation, with all profits benefiting the houses and the charity, the largest gift the National Trust has ever received. The hotels operate as a self-sufficient commercial hotel operation under the existing management of Historic House Hotels.
