Jamie Oliver reveals name of upcoming London restaurant
Jamie Oliver has revealed the name of his upcoming London restaurant ahead of its opening in November.
The chef will return to the UK restaurant scene with the launch of Jamie Oliver Catherine Street in Covent Garden, adjacent to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Writing on Instagram, Oliver said the menu would reflect his love "of Britain's rich and diverse food culture" and champion "independent producers and suppliers".
He added: "I am SO happy to announce my return to the UK restaurant industry that I love so dearly with my new place @jamieolivercatherinest!!
"My hope is that Catherine Street will be a wonderfully welcoming, happy place to dine, with great service, and delicious food at its heart. To say I'm excited is an understatement! Hope to see you at Catherine Street later this year."
The opening comes four years after the collapse of the chef's UK restaurant arm saw the closure of the Jamie's Italian chain, as well as the Barbecoa and Fifteen brands.
It has not been confirmed if the Catherine Street launch will be the first of several new UK openings for the chef but Kevin Styles, chief executive of the Jamie Oliver Group, told the Sunday Times in May that it formed part of a five-year plan for the business.
Respected restaurateur Jeremy King joined the board of Jamie Oliver Group in an advisory role earlier this year.
Speaking on the News Agents podcast last month, Oliver said he hadn't "lost faith" in the restaurant industry and that he was still a "restaurateur at heart".
He added: "I'm still young-ish, got 10 years of good work in me yet, I think. So, I'm opening back up...and what's beautiful is the greatest hits of all my team are coming back without having to advertise, so we're going to get the band back together."
