Indian Restaurant Group opens third Mela restaurant

The Indian Restaurants Group (IRG) has opened its third Mela restaurant in Redhill, Surrey.

In February the group opened its second Mela in Herne Hill, South London, and unveiled plans to expand across Greater London and the surrounding areas.

The new Redhill restaurant can accommodate 100 covers with 35 covers outside and will be open from midday, seven days a week.

Mela founder, executive chef Kuldeep Singh who is also a director of IRG, will oversee the menu, and average spend is expected to be £10 for lunch and £20 for dinner.

Amit Pau, managing director of IRG, said: "We are delighted to announce the opening of Mela in Redhill.

"Despite the current economic climate, our West End and Herne Hill outlets are trading well and we believe that Mela's affordable and accessible cuisine along with the popularity of Indian food make the concept ideal for expansion."

IRG plans to open 15 to 20 sites over the next five years in London and the South-east. The group also owns Chowki on Denham Street, London.
