Hotel Brooklyn to open in February 2020
Hotel Brooklyn, Bespoke Hotels' sister property to Hotel Gotham in Manchester, is set to open in February 2020.
Designed by Squid Inc, the same team behind Hotel Gotham, the 189-bedroom property will open in Manchester's Portland Street and is described as "Manchester's most accessible hotel… a trailblazer in championing accessible, sexy and modern design for all", with the inclusivity of the design being overseen by accessible design company Motionspot.
The hotel will feature 18 accessible bedrooms, each of which has been stylishly designed to complement the aesthetics of the hotel.
"Accessible accommodation at Hotel Brooklyn features subtle details like basins with integrated hand grips, removable matt black grab rails, accessible bedroom storage and a hidden ceiling track hoist", says Ed Warner, founder and chief executive of Motionspot. "We hope this high level of attention paid to inclusivity will make Hotel Brooklyn one of the most sought-after venues for guests of all abilities."
The aesthetic of the bedrooms has been inspired by Brooklyn's loft spaces, and bathroom amenities will include organic bamboo toothbrushes and ethically sourced toothpaste, green soap and lotion dispensers with minimum waste.
The property will also feature Runyon's bar and restaurant, named after American writer Damon Runyon, famous for his depictions of Brooklyn characters, and will present a menu showcasing European and American influences.
Dishes will include crab flake à la Newberg, Billy's bacon fried rice, ‘Oscar's' BLT wedge and hash browns; while Salvation events bar on the top floor of the hotel will feature exposed brick work, pop art and neon lights.
General manager Paul Bayliss said: "I am delighted to be leading the team at Hotel Brooklyn, as we look to make an immediate impact across Manchester and the north west."
Robin Sheppard, chairman of Bespoke Hotels, added: "We are thrilled to have secured this fantastic site in the heart of Manchester's historic industrial thoroughfare of Portland Street. We believe Hotel Brooklyn is a perfect fit for Manchester, not solely in terms of the architectural grandeur and convenience of its location, but the abundant character and feistiness of the city."
Nightly rates will start from £145 for a couple, including breakfast. Construction company Marshall CDP owns the freehold of the hotel, with Bespoke taking a long-term lease on the property, as it did with Hotel Gotham.
Olly Redfern, lead interior designer of Squid Inc, said: "It was an honour to work with Bespoke Hotels again on creating another iconic Manchester hotel with a strong identity and character. Weaving the lines between Manchester and Brooklyn is a bold and inspirational project that draws many parallels and it was incredibly fun to do, partnering with some of the best local suppliers to create the finished look."
