Helen McBride leaves Old Course hotel
Helen McBride has left her role as general manager of the Old Course hotel in St Andrews to join the Lyford Cay Club in the Bahamas as managing director.
Director of sales Phyllis Wilkie has been promoted to general manager and in her expanded role will take on the additional responsibility for marketing, sales, Kohler Waters Spa, and the Old Course hotel lodging operations.
McBride joined the five-red-AA-star, 175-bedroom hotel in 2016, having previously worked as deputy general manager of Richard Branson's Necker Island. She was initially appointed as resident manager of the Old Course, joining under then general manager Stephen Carter, The Caterer's 2011 Hotelier of the Year, moving up to general manager two years later after Carter retired.
She oversaw the multimillion-pound extension and refurbishment of the property which completed earlier this year in time for next year's Open golf championship, which will return to the historic Old Course in July 2022 for the 30th time.
The hotel is owned by US-based manufacturing business Kohler.
