"Global cuisine" restaurant Neighbour's Chef opens in Greater Manchester
A new global-cuisine restaurant from Manchester restaurateur Sandeep Manhas has opened in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
The 60-cover Neighbour's Chef serves Indian, Chinese, Thai, British, American and Italian food, and is housed in a former pub and Indian restaurant in the town centre. It will be open in the evenings from Tuesday to Friday, and from midday to evening at weekends.
Manhas, former manager of the Manchester branch of the Red Hot World Buffet and with 15 years' experience in hospitality, invested £50,000 in the project, completely refurbishing the venue. The new site has also created six jobs.
The a la carte dishes include hot and cold starters, salads, pasta, curries, burgers and varied desserts, while the fully-licensed bar serves cocktails, a selection of wine plus tea and coffee. The kitchen also accepts takeaway requests.
The new opening is part of Manhas's plan to bring a non-high street brand to the Manchester surroundings.
He said: "I felt that Oldham was the ideal choice as it has such a great community feel, hence our choice of name, and it's a fantastic place to do business. There are no other restaurants serving this type of food in the area, meaning that we can offer the people of Oldham a unique dining experience.
"I think that it's very important to bring something different to Greater Manchester…a place with delicious food that feels homely and welcoming and that people regard as a social hub."
