Fred Sirieix steps down as general manager of Galvin at Windows
Fred Sirieix has stepped down as general manager of Galvin at Windows in the London Hilton Park Lane after 14 years in the role.
During his time at the restaurant, opened by Chris and Jeff Galvin in 2006, Sirieix has been a figurehead for front of house workers, campaigning for greater recognition of their skills and dedication as well as establishing National Waiters Day, which is now in its seventh year.
He has also nurtured a broadcasting career, starring as maître d' of Channel 4's First Dates restaurant as well as presenting shows including My Million Pound Menu and Remarkable Places to Eat on the BBC and appearing alongside chefs Gordon Ramsay and Gino D'Acampo in Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip.
Announcing his departure from the restaurant on the 28th floor of the London hotel Sirieix said: "The time has come to say goodbye to all friends and colleagues after an incredible 14 year journey at Galvin at Windows.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me over the years and helped us create amazing experiences and deliver excellence to all our wonderful guests."
Chris Galvin said: "I am grateful to Fred for his incredible hard work and mercurial talent. We have achieved so much with Galvin at Windows, and Fred has played a large part in that success.
"My brother and I couldn't have wished for a more passionate general manager and I am especially grateful for his personal partnership in creating Galvin's Chance charity. Fred has a wonderful future ahead, and we wish him every success."
Sirieix has not confirmed where his career will be headed next, but adds "now onto another adventure... 2020 here I come."
