Former Carfax hotel in Bath on market for £4.25m plus
Plans for the Vineyard Group to develop and manage a new boutique hotel in Bath have been put on hold after the owner decided to put the 31-bedroom property on the market.
Located on Great Pulteney Street, the building is made up of three terraced townhouses and a two-storey coach house, and is being sold with full planning permission to create an additional eight bedrooms and extend the dining space.
The Carfax hotel was previously owned and run by the Salvation. Andrew McKenzie, managing director of the Vineyard Group and 2008 Hotelier of the Year, worked on the transformation of the property into a boutique hotel until Geco Spa took the decision to sell.
Property agent Savills is overseeing the sale. Martin Rogers, hotels director at Savills, said: "This historic property previously traded successfully as a hotel and with Bath's strong tourist market, plus planning permission in place to add further bedrooms, it could certainly do so again. Alternatively, it could be converted into luxury houses or apartments subject to the necessary planning consents."
Offers for the hotel must be made by 12pm on 14 March 2016.
