Extensive refurbishment planned for Loch Rannoch hotel under new ownership
The new owners of the Loch Rannoch hotel have confirmed that the hotel will remain closed until spring 2021 while an extensive refurbishment programme is under way.
The Pitlochry hotel, which was built in the 19th century, was acquired from the Macdonald Group by the Loch Rannoch Estate on 6 July. Former Macdonald staff will be transferred to the new company under the acquisition.
Loch Rannoch Estate's director, Nick Pattie, who managed the hotel and estate over 30 years ago, told The Caterer that it was "an interesting project and in a wonderful part of the world".
Pattie said the renovation would be "across the piste" and would include the restaurant, bar and lounge areas as well as the hotel's 47 bedrooms. A number of suites would also be created and the swimming pool complex would be extended to include a spa treatment room.
Glasgow-based commercial design firm Bell & Swift is overseeing the works, with the hotel scheduled to reopen in spring 2021.
Pattie added: "The renovation is quite extensive and we want to bring it back to being an activity-based resort because we have a marina and extensive leisure facilities."
