The Elms hotel reopens after multimillion-pound refurbishment

Following a 12-month, multimillion-pound redevelopment by local businessman Tim Hopkins and the Social Butterfly Hospitality Group, the Elms hotel and Greenhouse spa at Abberley, in Worcestershire, has reopened.

The reopening of the 24-bedroom property has created 40 jobs, while the group is also looking to recruit a further 50 people across its expanding portfolio of sites, including the Crown Inn at Hallow, Ombersley Court and Checketts Great British Foods.

Operations manager Michael Pearson said: "It's been a long time in the making, but the end product is second to none. We've been waiting for this day for 12 months and seeing the doors finally reopen fulfils a long-standing dream. We are so pleased to see everything we've been working on for so long come to life. It will be a great asset both for people living in the Worcestershire area and for visitors alike."

The Social Butterfly Hospitality Group managing director William Donaldson added: "The Elms hotel and Greenhouse spa is a massive boost for hospitality and tourism in the Worcestershire area and for the local community surrounding the hotel itself. We've created a real positive in the hospitality industry, generating jobs and actively recruiting. It's especially rewarding seeing the Elms hotel open for business in what truly is one of the most breathtaking and unique settings."

Luxury Family Hotels (LFH) sold the property to Andrew and Tim Hopkins for an undisclosed figure off a guide price of £5m in 2017. The hotel was one of seven LFH acquired following the Von Essen administration in 2011.
