D&D London to open Bristol restaurant Klosterhaus next month

D&D London will open new restaurant Klosterhaus in Bristol's Cabot Circus on 2 October, with the concept paying tribute to the "dining scene of grand mittel-European cafés".

The two-storey venue, in the 18th-century, Grade I-listed Quakers Friars building, will incorporate a restaurant, bar and outdoor terraces, as well as a number of event spaces for business meetings and social events.

Des Gunewardena, chairman and chief executive of D&D London, said: "Quaker Friars is an absolute gem of a building and I hope that Klosterhaus will bring it to life. Bristol has a very exciting foodie scene and I hope that we can contribute to and become part of it. We are very pleased to be working again with Hammerson and are very supportive and enthusiastic about their plans for the overall development of Quakers Friars."

The menu developed by executive head chef Bjoern Wassmuth and head chef Rhys Grayson will feature Mittel-European classics and German favourites, such as an appetiser of soused herring with herring caviar, sweet mustard, potato and apple salad, and chicken and veal schnitzels. Sharing plates will include slow-roasted Creedy Carver duck, potato dumpling and braised red cabbage.

A drinks offering will include a list of European wines, classic and creative cocktails and an array of beers from the 229-year-old German brewery Rothaus.
