Le Cordon Bleu to open fine dining restaurant in City of London

Culinary institute Le Cordon Bleu is opening a fine dining restaurant, café and cookery school concept in the City of London this spring called Cord.

Open for lunch and dinner, Monday to Friday, the 90-cover Cord by Cordon Bleu restaurant will offer dinner tasting menus, a la carte, and a weekly changing set lunch menu, priced at £25 per head.

Dishes will include heritage tomato carpaccio with creamy buratti, faille de brick, Manchego and Lampung pepper; smoked rainbow trout with fennel, pomegranate, apple and yuzu; poached Dover sole and lime; and lamb with polenta, sea herbs and broad beans.

The 30-cover Cord Café will offer French patisseries and viennoiseries baked on site, alongside sandwiches, salads, soups and breads.

Le Cordon Bleu already operates restaurants and cafes in London, Tokyo, Paris, Ottawa and Lima.

Le Cordon Bleu chief executive and president, André J. Cointreau, said: "This year is a milestone for Le Cordon Bleu as we celebrate 125 years of excellence in teaching around the world and prepare ourselves to launch Cord by Le Cordon Bleu."

LXA is behind the design of the space.
