The Conduit Club to reopen later this year on Langley Street

The Conduit Club, a private members' club focused on social, environmental and economic change, is set to reopen later this year in London's Covent Garden at 6 Langley Street.

The space, owned by the Mercers' Company, spans across six floors and will comprise a public-facing, all-day dining restaurant, a bookshop, two floors for meetings, space to house high-impact social businesses and a rooftop restaurant and terrace.

The private members' club, founded by human rights lawyer Paul van Zyl and financier Nicholas Hamilton in 2018, was forced to close its Mayfair location last year and entered administration in October 2020 after reportedly struggling with unpaid debts.

Van Zyl, chief creative officer of the Conduit, said: "We were inspired by the Mercers' Company's philanthropic values and wanted to work with an incredibly professional institution deeply committed to positive change. Also, when considering the rebirth of the Conduit, choosing the right location was key – there is such a strong feeling of community, creativity and entrepreneurship here on the estate and within the neighbourhood, and we couldn't be more excited to have it as the location of our new home. Based on the impact of Covid, the Conduit is now needed more than ever and we look forward to reconvening and re-energising our community of members in Covent Garden."

We wanted to secure a high-profile occupier to make the space their own and the Conduit is exactly that.
