Cedric Horgnies appointed general manager of Monkey Island Estate
Monkey Island Estate on the River Thames in Berkshire has appointed Cedric Horgnies as general manager less than 12 months after the opening of the 30-bedroom hotel.
Horgnies has replaced Lee Kelly who has moved to the Berkeley hotel in London's Knightsbridge as hotel manager.
He has joined the hotel in Bray from Threadneedles, a sister property within YTL Hotels in the City of London, where he was general manger for three and a half years.
Prior to joining Threadneedles in 2016, Horgnies spent 15 years with Hilton, latterly working as interim general manager at the Waldorf Hilton, London, and general manager at the Hilton Bournemouth.
Kelly has been the second high-profile departure from Monkey Island since the launch of the property by YTL Hotels in April 2019 following a three-year restoration. Will Hemming stepped down as executive chef in August 2019 following his appointment as head chef at the Oakley Court hotel in Windsor. The hotel's kitchen is now being led by YTL's cluster executive chef Alex Tyndall.
Malaysian-based YTL Hotels owns and operates four other hotels in the UK alongside Monkey Island Estate including the Gainsborough Bath Spa; the Glasshouse in Edinburgh, and the Academy and Threadneedles in London.
