Cardiff, Swansea and Llanelli to come under local lockdown
Cardiff, Swansea and Llanelli have been added to a growing list of areas in South Wales under local lockdowns.
From 6pm on Saturday in Llanelli, and 6pm on Sunday in Cardiff and Swansea, people will not be able to enter or leave the area without a reasonable excuse, will not be able to meet indoors with anyone they do not live with, support bubbles will be suspended, and residents must work from home wherever possible.
Health minister Vaughan Gething said the number of cases has been falling steadily in Caerphilly, which came under the first local lockdown two weeks ago, however restrictions will remain in place for at least the next seven days. He said the Welsh government hopes to be able to start relaxing those restrictions gradually, while keeping close watch on other local lockdowns in Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, Bridgend, Blaenau Gwent and Rhondda Cynon Taf.
A 10pm curfew and table service-only restrictions came into force in Wales yesterday, and first minister Mark Drakeford urged people to only travel when they need to do so.
