US burger brand Black Tap targets UK expansion
US burger and milkshake brand Black Tap is planning to enter the UK market and hopes to open its first London restaurant by summer 2023.
The group, which operates five US sites and 11 internationally, has appointed real estate consultants Gillingham Bell International and Highland Global to manage its UK growth.
Black Tap is looking for three prime sites in central London between 3,000 sq ft – 4,000 sq ft.
The business was founded by New York entrepreneur Chris Barish in 2015 and has teamed up with Sunny Kooner, the founder of the Old Northampton Group hospitality company, for its UK expansion.
Marcel Khan, the former regional managing director at Nando's who played a key role in the launch of US burger brand Five Guys in the UK, is working with the team as a consultant.
A growing number of North American brands are targeting expansion in the UK, including Popeyes, Wingstop, Tim Hortons and Wendy's.
