Contract caterers the Balanced Food Co and Food First merge
Contract caterers the Balanced Food Co and Food First have merged, with the intention of "disrupting the marketplace" by delivering "sustainable lifestyle benefits" through nutritional food.
Ian Summers, chef and part of the original management team of Graysons restaurants, founded Balanced Food Co in 2016 working across B&I and independent education. Summers told The Caterer: "Clients are telling us they want to see something different in the market place, we've listened to that and aligned it with our food values. We have a huge focus on health and well-being in the workplace delivering benefits for employers in terms of health, productivity, reducing sick days. The more enlightened clients are really getting hold of this now.
"We don't stand on a soap box and preach about what people should or shouldn't eat. Our values are around producing amazing food so as a customer you see something you really want to engage with because it looks and tastes amazing and it just so happens it's good for you."
McCann added: "It's exciting times for our new business. Prospective clients and many consultants have been looking for a new company with new ideas. Enquiries have been very strong and 2020 is looking very positive"
