Atul Kochhar to open second Marlow site

Chef-restaurateur Atul Kochhar is set to open a new restaurant in Marlow, having bought the site which formerly housed Italian restaurant Villa D'este.

The 100-cover Buckinghamshire restaurant has been owned and operated by Fabio Terrinoni since the mid-80s. Terrinoni has decided to sell the business to focus on his other restaurant in Henley-on-Thames, Villa Marina.

Kochhar plans to completely refurbish the property, which will join Sindhu in Marlow, which he opened in 2014. Kochhar also operates another Buckinghamshire restaurant, Hawkyns in Old Amersham, and two in London: Kanishka in Mayfair and Indian Essence in Petts Wood. He announced plans to open Mathura in the former Westminster Fire Station last year.

Terrinoni said: "It has been a pleasure operating in Marlow for so long, as we were always well supported by the local community who seem to have a real passion for dining. We wish the new owner Atul every success with his new restaurant."

Tim Widdows, business agent at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, added: "Due to its strong location in Marlow, we received a good amount of interest from a range of operators. We are thrilled that it was taken on by a well-known restaurateur such as Atul, who will no doubt thrive with his new venture."
