Andre Garrett to leave Galvin at Windows
Galvin at Windows head chef Andre Garrett is set to leave the Michelin-starred restaurant with plans to launch his first solo venture.
Sous chef Joo Won, an experienced protégé of Chris and Jeff Galvin with more than eight years' experience on the Galvin at Windows culinary team, will step up to replace Garrett when he leaves in mid-September.
Chris Galvin, chef patron of Galvin at Windows, said: "I first worked with Joo at the Orrery over 15 years ago where his skills and passion highlighted a promising career ahead.
"When we opened Galvin at Windows, our second restaurant after Galvin Bistrot de Luxe, it was clear that we needed to grow talent in the team and Joo is a great example of this. I am delighted that he will be taking the helm and we wish Andre all the best of luck in his future endeavours."
Garrett has led the team at Galvin at Windows for the past seven years and he previously worked as sous chef under Chris Galvin at the Orrery for four years. He played a major role in gaining the restaurant's first Michelin star alongside general manager and 2013 Catey award winner Fred Sirieix.
Commenting on his time spent working with the double Catey winning Galvin brothers, Garrett said: "I have enjoyed my tenure at Galvin at Windows immensely and cannot thank Chris and Jeff enough for the opportunity. They have encouraged me from the very beginning and continue to support me in this exciting juncture of my career."
Garrett has yet to reveal details of his new restaurant plans.
After studying International hotel and tourism management at the Schiller International University, Won trained at Le Cordon Bleu. He said: "I'm very excited to lead the team as head chef and I'm extremely grateful to the Galvins for all of their support and inspiration.
"I look forward to carrying the mantle of the Galvins' culinary prowess and making my mark at Galvin at Windows."
