American barbecue restaurant Pitt Cue closes
American barbecue restaurant Pitt Cue has closed its doors, eight years after its launch.
Tom Adams and Jamie Berger's Pitt Cue started life in 2011 as a street food van under Hungerford Bridge. It soon gathered a dedicated following and a permanent home in London's West End followed quickly after, before a move to Devonshire Square in the City.
Writing on Instagram today the restaurant said: "It is with great sadness we announce the closure of Pitt Cue. We would let to thank our customers, staff and suppliers for their support over the last eight years.
"We are very proud of our role in bringing BBQ to the masses in the UK and promoting the cause of proper ethical animal husbandry."
The loss of the restaurant has prompted many responses across social media, including from The Sunday Times‘ restaurant critic Marina O'Loughlin who wrote "Oh shit", followed by "As ever, I always was just on the point of going back".
