Alex Kratena and Monica Berg announce Old Street TaTa Eatery collaboration
Award-winning bartending team Alex Kratena and Monica Berg are set to work with TaTa Eatery chefs Zijun Meng and Ana Gonçalves on a new project in Shoreditch's Old Street in 2019.
The site will be Kratena and Berg's first bar as owners, and Kratena's first project since leaving his role as the head bartender at Artesian, where he led the team to be crowned ‘World's Best Bar' four years running.
Chefs Meng and GonÁ§alves originally operated TaTa Eatery, the highly acclaimed Portuguese-Chinese fusion concept, as a street food project. They were later invited to collaborate at James Knappett's Kitchen Table before completing a one-year residency in Dalston's Curio Cabal café which closed in August last year.
More recently TaTa ran as a three-month residency at Borough Wines in Kensal Rise. Dishes at the Old Street site are expected to continue on the pair's well-established mix of modern Asian cuisine with European influence and ingredients.
