Nottingham's Alchemilla is sole new UK recipient of four AA rosettes

The Alchemilla restaurant in Nottingham has been named as the only new recipient in the UK of four AA rosettes.

Owned by chef Alex Bond since 2017, Alchemilla, which also holds a Michelin star, is renowned for its plant-focused menu. The restaurant, located in a former coach house and featuring a living wall, is described by the AA as serving "modern cookery of the best kind, supported by an understanding of classic techniques, and with an inspired take on the plant-based elements of dishes".

Dishes highlighted by the guide include "a memorable starter of celeriac, finished in goats' butter and topped with fresh herbs" and Moroccan lamb "served pink, with burnt aubergine, pomegranate and molasses, sticky-sweet and complex, and a colourful apricot and tea purée. A quenelle of shakshuka pulls the dish together brilliantly". Among the desserts which impress is a "creamy chocolate gelato, salted liquorice custard and a vibrant beetroot sorbet".

Bond said: "I'm absolutely delighted to have been given our fourth AA rosette Award. It's a true team effort at Alchemilla who all work immensely hard and I'm extremely proud that our hard work continues to pay off."

The AA's list of new rosette award winners also includes the Lady Helen restaurant in Thomastown, Co Kilkenny, Ireland, and 11 establishments awarded three rosettes:
