2009 Galvin Cup competition now open for entries
The 2009 Galvin Cup mixologist competition is now open for entries.
Now in its third year, the annual competition, which has been created by Chris Galvin, will take place on 15 June at London's Dorchester hotel.
It is divided into two categories: hospitality students from Europe and beyond; and employed bar professionals from five-star hotels and style bars.
Entrants will be asked to create a classic martini cocktail using Belvedere vodka as well as an individual creation. Four finalists will then create a cocktail from a secret bag of ingredients during a final shake off.
All cocktails will be evaluated by a panel of judges including Galvin, Gorgeous Group founder Robbie Bargh, former Le Gavroche general manager Silvano Girladin and retired footballer Graeme Le Saux.
The students will compete for a year's paid work placement at Galvin at Windows, while the professionals will battle it out for a £1,500 cash prize.
The deadline for entries is 1 May and entry forms can be downloaded at www.thegalvincup.com.
