14forty wins multi-million-pound catering contract with N Brown Group

14forty, a division of Compass Group UK and Ireland, has won a multi-million-pound contract to provide catering, cleaning and security services to online retailer N Brown Group.

The multi-year deal covers the retailer's headquarters in Manchester's Northern Quarter and distribution centres in Oldham and Glossop.

N Brown specialises in clothing, footwear, furniture and electronics and owns brands including JD Williams, Jacamo and Simply Be and has nearly 2,000 employees working across its three sites.

14forty will hire an additional 100 staff, consolidating operations from three separate companies into a single contract.

Since winning the contract, it has aimed to enhance the food presence at each site with a wider choice of healthier options and improved coffee offer at the head office.

It has also provided security officers with new uniforms and trained them to work in front-facing ‘concierge' roles, to assist as well as protect staff.

Cleaning teams have been given chemical-free products to support the company's environmental initiatives.

Ken Mellis, head of workplace and facilities engineering at N Brown, said: "[14forty] delivered a winning pitch, and its size means it has the capacity to take on more services for us if required. This clinched it for us, so we were delighted to award 14forty the work in its entirety."

N Brown is also building a new workplace restaurant at its site in Shaw in collaboration with 14forty.
