First look: 1 Hotel Mayfair with Tom Sellers restaurant opens its doors
1 Hotels, which is operated by Starwood Capital's SH Hotels & Resorts, has opened its first European property in London's Mayfair today (13 July).
1 Hotel Mayfair offers 137 rooms and 44 suites, including the largest one-bedroom penthouse in Mayfair, the group said.
The hotel also features the Dovetale restaurant by Tom Sellers, the chef behind two-Michelin-starred Restaurant Story in London Bridge; signature cocktail bar Dover Yard; daytime café and evening bar Neighbours; and a first-floor wellness area in partnership with Bamford Wellness Spa, which will open in late August.
Raul Leal, chief executive officer of SH Hotels & Resorts, told The Caterer ahead of the opening that 1 Hotel Mayfair's mission was to offer the "indulgencies of luxury without sacrificing the planet".
As a result, the hotel has been built to BREEAM Excellent standards, which measures the sustainability of buildings, having used 80% of the existing structure.
It also features over 500 sq m of living green-trellised exterior walls, while each guest room contains a moss wall. This amounts to over 200 plant species and 1,300 individual plants across the property.
Room rates start from £700 a night and guests can explore the city with the Audi e-tron, the official electronic vehicle partner for 1 Hotels.
1 Hotel Mayfair also offers Mayfair's Tree Tapestry Tour in collaboration with the Tree Council, as well as community dog walks and wellness pop-ups.
1 Hotels launched in 2015 and currently runs nine properties across North America and Asia, while three further European properties in Paris, Copenhagen and Crete are in the pipeline.
SH Hotels & Resorts is a hotel brand management company that also owns and operates the Baccarat Hotels and Treehouse Hotels.
