Turnover doubles to £50m at JKS restaurants

JKS restaurants, which operates restaurants including Gymkhana, Hoppers, Sabor and Kitchen Table has reported that turnover has almost doubled to £50m at the group.

In its accounts for the year to 1 January 2023 the group reported that earnings before tax (EBITDA) was £5.5m, compared to £1m in 2021, though this led to a loss of £4.4m.

Turnover was up to £50m from £27.8m in 2021.

The group said that it continued to face cost pressures in the supply chain and wage inflation as well as the potential for rent increases. As a result it said it was "continually looking for ways to improve efficiency across its restaurants, with a view to lowering operating costs without compromising product quality or service levels".

During the period JKS opened Speedboat Bar in partnership with Luke Farrell and a second Berenjak site.

In the management review of the business the group said it aimed to "create a multi-branded market leading restaurant group across cuisines and categories, enabling young, ambitious, and innovative chefs to showcase their talent and passion in an entrepreneurial and commercially driven environment".
