Sven-Hanson Britt joins Monica Galetti's Mere as head chef
Sven-Hanson Britt has joined Monica Galetti's Mere restaurant in London as head chef.
The Fitzrovia restaurant announced the news on Instagram, writing: "Exciting News! Sven Hanson has joined Monica at Mere as our head chef!
"They have been busy brainstorming exciting new dishes inspired from the Pacific Islands together!"
Britt was a finalist on MasterChef: the Professionals in 2014 when Galetti was a judge, and he later went on to win the MasterChef: The Professionals, Rematch series in 2019.
His appointment comes two months after he permanently closed his Oxeye restaurant in London's Nine Elms after less than two years of trading.
The chef previously cooked at the Ritz London and is the co-founder of ethical chocolate company Cartografie.
Galetti opened Mere with her husband David in 2017 and the restaurant's menu blends classical French and South Pacific Island influences. It is recommended in the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2023, although it does not hold a star.
