Strong comparative hotel performance figures for UK hotels in January

Performance figures for UK hotels during January were the highest ever recorded by hotel data company STR.

Occupancy across the whole country was marginally up by 0.6% to 63.9%, despite London hotels showing a 1.1% decrease.

Average daily room (ADR) rate and revenue per available room increased by 1% to £81.14 and 1.6% to £51.88 respectively.

STR analysts said that the surge in international and domestic tourism following the Brexit vote pushed occupancy and ADR to peak levels in 2017. "As that impact continues to fade, so does the potential for year-over-year growth in comparison to previously high performance values," they concluded.
