Salt Yard and Dehesa owners to launch third London tapas restaurant
The owners of London tapas restaurants Salt Yard and Dehesa are to launch a third venture in the capital with the opening of a new site in Covent Garden.
Sanja and Simon Mullins will open the Opera Tavern, located on the edge of the Covent Garden Piazza, in January.
Housed in a former 19th-century pub, the 80-seat restaurant will be spread over two floors, comprising a downstairs bar and restaurant with an open kitchen as well as an upstairs dining room seating 40. Interiors will include a mixture of wooden tables and green leather banquettes.
Like its sister restaurants, the Opera Tavern will serve a tapas menu inspired by the flavours of Spain and Italy. The menu will be developed by executive chef Ben Tish together with head chef Jamie Thickett, and speciality dishes will include Ibérico pork from the robata grill.
There will also be a large selection of charcuterie and cheese from Italy and Spain on offer. The average spend will be £30.
