Pret A Manger to open first café in Israel

Pret A Manger is expanding its reach to Israel as part of the company's plan to break into five new markets by the end of 2023.

The café chain has announced an initial agreement with multinational retailer Fox Group and Tel Aviv-based foodservice firm Yarzin Sella Group to launch the Pret brand in Israel.

The move comes as Pret look to double the size of its business within the next five years.

The Israeli opening follows a wave of new franchise agreements signed in 2022, which saw Pret launch in India and Spain, as well as in the United States.

The launch will be Fox Group's first venture into the food industry, partnering with Yarzin Sella to bring Pret's fresh food and organic coffee to Israel.

Fox Group currently employ over 10,000 people across 1,000 stores globally.

Pano Christou, chief executive of Pret A Manger, said: "We are still in the early stages but are delighted to have reached an initial agreement to bring Pret's freshly made food and organic coffee to customers in Israel.

"Over the past year we have stepped up our international expansion and growth plans, working with our franchise partners to introduce Pret to new markets. We're looking forward to seeing how consumers in Israel respond to the great taste and innovation from Pret and hope we are a welcome addition to the food-to-go market for all."

Pret currently operates in 110 countries worldwide including Hong Kong, France, and Singapore.
