Moley Robotics releases next generation of robotic kitchens

UK robotics kitchen company Moley Robotics today revealed its new robotic kitchen model at the World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo in Hamburg, Germany.

Called the Chef's Kitchen, the robotic model has been programmed to cook hundreds of recipes, including omelettes, steaks, and pasta dishes. The Chef's Kitchen includes a robotic arm and hand, as well as an induction hob, and utensils, including blender, tongs, spatula, and spoons. Ingredients and condiments are positioned in storage boxes within arm's reach of the robot.

Moley Robotics founder and CEO Mark Oleynik said that the product will "transform how freshly cooked meals are prepared in individual portions". He added that Moley Robotics' latest product has interest from social and elderly care homes where the need for freshly cooked food, often with specific dietary requirements, is high.

It is also hoped that the product will help catering companies and restaurants who have been forced to cut capacity or opening hours due to staff shortages; last year, UKHospitality reported that 45% of hospitality operators in the UK had cut opening hours due to staff shortages.

Chef's Kitchen has passed CE marking certification in Europe, meaning that the product has met EU safety, health and environmental protection requirements and is safe to operate in commercial kitchens.

Founded in 2014, Moley Robotics launched its first robotic kitchen in 2020. The tech firm's products are designed to integrate into commercial kitchens and operate alongside human chefs. It has a team of 100 engineers, product and interior designers, and three chefs, including 2011 MasterChef winner Tim Anderson, who create dishes that match the robot's capabilities.

Priced from £50,000, the tech firm's latest product goes on sale Moley Robotic's website on 1 July 2023.
