Mitre hotel at Hampton Court sold to Signet Hotel Group
The Mitre hotel in Hampton Court has been sold for an undisclosed sum after being in the ownership of Combined Counties Properties headed by the Dunsdon family for nearly 30 years.
Located overlooking the River Thames next to Hampton Court Bridge, the 36-bedroom hotel has been bought by Signet Hotel Group, a new venture headed by directors Hector Ross and Erica Sugai.
Ross was previously chief operating office of Longshot Holdings, the owner of Beaverbrook hotel in Leatherhead, Surrey, and the Bel & the Dragon collection of country inns until its sale in 2018 to pub and brewery operator Fuller, Smith & Turner.
With origins dating back to 1666, the hotel was commissioned by Charles II to be used as a lodging house for guests to nearby Hampton Court Palace.
Fleurets and Christie & Co, the agents who jointly marketed the property, said that Signet Hotel Group had plans to undertake "considerable investment" at the Mitre later this year.
